Academic Writing:
On-Ramp for Teens
On-Ramp for Teens
Taught by Eliyanah Delicate
Full-Year 32-week Course
NOTE: 1.5 hr. class
Course Description:
Join us as we learn how to navigate the sometimes confusing world of academic writing in this 1.5 hr. weekly small-group class. This on-ramp is designed to support and enhance the writing of academic sentence structures, followed by learning to use and improve essay structure by using the paragraph as a mini-essay.
This course follows the skill progression as described by Hochman in The Writing Revolution to move from sentence fragments, appositives, and subordinating conjunctions to a detailed exploration of paragraph writing as mini-essays.
We will be focusing only on academic writing in this class. Creative Writing is being offered separately. (see options below)
*A typical English course from middle school through to the end of high school requires both a literature component and a writing component. Our courses are designed to enable you to choose the best combination for your learner’s needs.
