Writing 2: Academic Paragraphs

Full Year - 32 week Course
PRE-REQUISITES: Completion of Writing 1 or 2
AND
Permission of the Instructor

NOTE: 1.5 hr. class - 9:15-10:45 p.m. ET

Course Description:

Join us in this 1.5 hr weekly class as we continue to learn to craft strong paragraphs using The Writing Revolution progression. This course is only open to those who have completed Writing 1: Creative Writing and Academic Sentences, Writing 2, or the equivalent and will pick up with consolidating previously seen paragraph skills and proceed with honing their paragraph skills. In order to ensure accurate skill placement, permission of the instructor is required for this class.

Rather than exploring academic writing technique and creative writing each week, we will be focusing only on academic writing in this class. Creative Writing is being offered separately on Wednesdays or Fridays and is open to anyone currently registered in Writing 2 or anyone who has already completed Writing 2.  This new model will free up more class time to truly provide each other with constructive feedback on each other’s academic paragraph writing skills.

The weekly writing amount should stay about the same total amount for those in both classes.  In a typical week, the weekly writing practice for Writing 2: Academic Paragraphs alone will consist of targeted skill practice and the writing of a paragraph outline or the writing of a paragraph.

We will be drawing on the content of weekly shared watching and reading assignments in order to have a common knowledge base to write about. (see below)
