Shakespeare Camp: Much Ado About Nothing

ages 13+

[1 WEEK SUMMER 2025] August 11 - 15, 2025

Workshop Description:

Note: Participants must be comfortable reading at a gr.8 level or above to register.

Adira Delicate, a recent university grad and Shakespeare nerd, is once again offering a one week Shakespeare Camp for up to ten engaged, advanced, and curious folk ages 13+.

Each day everyone will meet on Zoom from 11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. ET with a one hour unsupervised lunch break from 12:30-1:30. She will leave the Zoom up for that hour so that folk can socialize and eat together if they choose.

Please expect that Wednesday and Thursday there will be some workshop prep to do independently in the evening.

Detailed workshop description:

Come join me as we dive into Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. We’ll spend some time looking at who this “Shakespeare” guy was, the period in which he wrote all these plays, and the language he used to write them. We’ll then be reading Much Ado aloud together, readers’ theatre style, and discussing it as we go along, bringing the play to life and really getting to understand it. Finally, in our last couple of days together, we will be diving even deeper into specific scenes or monologues and workshopping them with the end goal of presenting our pieces to friends and family on the final day to show off what approximately six hours of rehearsal can get you. We’ll meet Monday to Friday, from 11:00am-3:30pm EST, with an hour long, unsupervised lunch break from 12:30-1:30. The final showcase will be from 2:30-3:30pm on Friday afternoon.

Everyone will need a copy of Much Ado About Nothing, specifically The Signet Classic Shakespeare edition so that everyone is working from the same text. They MUST have a hard copy to work from, not a digital copy. The ISBN for the edition we’re looking for is: ISBN-10: 0-451-52298-2 OR  ISBN-13: 978-0-451-52298-6
