What is Humanity?
An Inquiry into the Human Condition

Taught by Kendra Rogers
ages 12-18

Full-Year 32-week Course

Course Description:

What does it mean to be human in a rapidly changing world? Is morality absolute or a social construct? How does the architecture of our brains dictate the structure of our societies?

What is Humanity? is an advanced integrated humanities seminar designed for students ready to grapple with the complexities of the human experience. Moving beyond the “who, what, and when” of history, we interrogate the “why.” By synthesizing Philosophy, Ethics, Cultural Anthropology, Neuropsychology, and more, students will analyze how human thought—and its inherent biases—has constructed our global reality.

This course is built on the Socratic Method. Students will move beyond simple perspective-taking into deep critical theory, learning to deconstruct power structures, evaluate ethical dilemmas, and defend their own philosophical frameworks through rigorous debate and analytical conversation.
