[FULL YEAR - 8 MEET-UPS]

Course Description:

Join us as we explore a different time period each month through student presentations working forward in time from 500 BCE to the present day. Students will sign up to present a 5-7 min. presentation on an aspect of the time period on a first come, first served basis every SECOND meet-up. Only one presentation per aspect will be allowed so that we don’t end up with 4 presentations on the same aspect of the time period! For every meet-up, there will be some time period exploration to do as homework. For the meet-up where students are NOT presenting, they will be assigned to look up a few facts and bring them to share before the main presentations begin. The time period exploration and basic facts will help to set the stage for everyone to get the most out of each other’s presentations.

Required Homework:

Complete the assigned timeline exploration for each meet-up.

Prepare the assigned information for EACH meet-up:

Every SECOND meet-up, you will be assigned to prepare and share a 5-7 minute presentation on the month’s time period.

On the alternate meet-up dates, you will be assigned to prepare and share some assigned basic facts about the time period.

This schedule is designed to involve everyone in each time period, while only requiring students to prepare a 5-7 minute presentation every second month.

For those doing both the History and Geography clubs, the schedules will be arranged such that students are never preparing a 5-7 minute presentation twice in the same month.

Course Materials:

Printouts to guide both the time period exploration and looking up a time period’s basic facts will be provided.
