[FULL YEAR - 8 MEET-UPS]
Course Description:
Join us as we explore a different country each month through student presentations. Students will sign up to present a 5-7 min. presentation on a topic of their choice on a first come, first served basis every SECOND meet-up. Only one presentation per topic will be allowed so that we don’t end up with 4 presentations on the same aspect of the country! For every meet-up, there will be some basic map work to complete. For the meet-up where students are NOT presenting, they will be assigned to look up a couple of facts and bring them to share before the main presentations begin. The map work and basic facts will help to set the stage for everyone to get the most out of each other’s presentations.
This summer before the club starts, students will be offered the opportunity to put 6-10 countries ‘into the hat’ from a list of 28 countries to provide the pool from which the year’s countries will be selected. My goal is to try and make sure that at least one of everyone’s choices will be picked and that we end up with a diverse set of countries!

Required Homework:
Print and complete the assigned map work for each meet-up.
Prepare the assigned information for EACH meet-up:
Every SECOND meet-up, you will be assigned to prepare and share a 5-7 presentation on the month’s country.
On the alternate meet-up dates, you will be assigned to prepare and share some assigned basic facts about the month’s country.
This schedule is designed to involve everyone in each country, while only requiring students to prepare a 5-7 minute presentation every second month.
For those doing both the Geography and History clubs, the schedules will be arranged such that students are never preparing a 5-7 minute presentation twice in the same month.
Course Materials:
Printouts to complete both the assigned mapwork and looking up a country’s basic facts will be provided.
