Courses

English Lit: Authors

ages 12-15 (gr.7-9)
Full Year - 32 week Course

Course Description:

Join us in exploring literature through the authors that created it. Each week, we will dive into explorations of the life of an author or their literature. We will read biographies written as graphic novels, picture books, and even told in verse! We will also expand our knowledge of an author using a range of non-fiction tools: newspaper articles, journal articles, websites, interviews, videos and more! As we dive in to the stories they tell, we will be asking ourselves if learning about an author’s life adds to our understanding and appreciation of their work.

This class pairs well with Writing 1: Creative Writing and Academic Sentences for ages 11-14 or Writing 2: Creative Writing and Academic Paragraphs for ages 11-15 for a writing component.
