Basics of Academic Writing

ages 12-15 (gr.7-10) (max. 4 students!)

Course Description:

This class is designed to support and enhance the writing of academic sentence structures. We will be using the Hochman Method, as detailed in The Writing Revolution, to move from sentence fragments, appositives and subordinating conjunctions to a beginning exploration of paragraph writing.

Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm ET

Semester 1 Dates: Sept 12, 2022-January 30, 2023 (16 weeks, No classes Sept 26, Oct 10, Nov 21, Dec 26, Jan 2)

Required Homework:

Approximately 1 hour of writing practice per week.

Course Materials:

No materials necessary to purchase.

Digital documents will be emailed throughout the semester and will occasionally need printing.
